Implicit Association Test

In class this week, we will be talking about social psychology - the basis for how we relate to, and interact with, each other. One topic we will cover is prejudice. In talking about this, we will talk about one research measure - the Implicit Association Test. In order to better understand this test, and get a feel for implicit assumptions and associations that we all make, please try this demonstration of the IAT. If you wish, your results can be contributed to an ongoing research project taking place at universities around the country. If not, that's ok too. You will have the option to decide what is done with your results.

Intelligence worksheet

In lieu of a long lecture on intelligence tonight, I have prepared a worksheet for you to complete. This will be handed out in class, after the test. If you missed the test, please print out a copy to complete. It is mandatory, and worth 20 points.

The activity will explore some theories and concepts of intelligence, as well as some of the methods of measuring intelligence. You will need to read the entire section on intelligence in your text (pp.310-330), as well as think critically and creatively, to fully complete this activity.

You will also need this handout on Gardner's 8 intelligences to complete the worksheet.

We will discuss these topics briefly in class on Thursday. Please have this worksheet ready to turn in at the beginning of class.
